Lowedges School Games PLATINUM award winners!

We have now received PLATINUM status in our School Games Sports Mark for 2022/2023! This has been achieved through our commitment and engagement in the school games programme by providing our pupils with the opportunity to participate in school sport. After 5 consecutive GOLD marks, we are delighted to reach this milestone.

Eat Smart Sheffield: Food for Life SILVER winners!
Lowedges Junior Academy are delighted to announce that we are the first Sheffield school to achieve the SILVER award!

We have continued our close partnership with Eat Smart Sheffield in order to promote a healthy lifestyle culture across the academy and community, to both pupils and parents. A key part to this is an awareness of a healthy and balanced diet and an understanding of sustainable food growth. Lowedges have met very stringent criteria to progress from Bronze to Silver accreditation. All staff and Governors are extremely proud of this achievement, especially as Lowedges are the FIRST Sheffield school to achieve this!  The next aim if achieving gold in the near future.

Modeshift Travel - GOLD award winners!
It is now with great pleasure to announce that we have received the MODESHIFT GOLD AWARD in 2022-2023!

Our commitment to Modeshift initiatives and active travel promotion across school has been thorough and regular throughout this academic year in order to achieve this. Our pupils are able to log their mode of travel to school on a WOW travel tracker register and earn badges for travelling in an active way. This engages the children and has wider benefits in the community, such as reducing pollution and making the school gates a safer zone. We have witnessed a significant increase in bikes and scooters too, which is very pleasing to see! 

Sheffield Schools Get Active Awards: Health & Wellbeing WINNERS!
Our work in the above initiatives has seen us champion the health and wellbeing of our pupils – such an important area to address post-pandemic. Our practice had initially been recognised in the Sheffield ‘Move More’ newsletter before going one better by winning an award in the Sheffield Schools Get Active Awards – Health & Wellbeing category. We are extremely proud of these achievements and thank all the staff for their hard work to make this possible!

Sheffield Federation for School Sport: Steel City Trophy WINNERS!

The Sheffield Federation for School Sport (SFSS) are an organisation that bring about wonderful opportunities to the children of Sheffield to access and compete in school sport. We were delighted to be nominated in this year's awards evening and win the Steel City trophy for our commitment to providing our pupils with the opportunity to engage in sport.
