At Lowedges Junior Academy, Religious Education (R.E) is taught throughout the academy, following the Sheffield SACRE Religious Education Syllabus. This includes a wealth of ideas and activities to ensure coverage of all objectives and that pupils reach and achieve the assessment criteria.

The principle aim of Religious Education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.

The SACRE Long Term Planning outlines the religions each year group will study and the enquiries they will complete.

All staff and children meet for daily worship. This can be in a variety of forms including class stories, class debates, assemblies etc.

The content of assemblies encourages a positive ethos of tolerance, caring and understanding for all. Assemblies are used to reinforce and develop school standards.

At Lowedges Junior Academy, we celebrate all different religious festivals through special assemblies, creative activities, visits and visitors and themed days and weeks.

The R.E Festivals document is a calendar of religious festivals categorised by religion. Please click below for the ACET RE Festivals document
